And understandably so, with so many applications nowadays it’s not difficult to become confused with file formats, file extensions and what goes with what. So we’ve compiled a brief guide of our most commonly requested file formats.
This guide includes the file format with extension and what application they belong to. The example document name is ‘extensions101’ followed by the retrospective software file extension. E.g extensions101.docx.
Microsoft Word:
Microsoft Word will save your documents with the software file extension, .docx. E.g extensions101.docx
Microsoft Excel:
Microsoft Excel will save your documents with the software file extension, .xlsx. E.g extensions101.xlsx
Microsoft Powerpoint:
Microsoft Powerpoint will save your documents with the software file extension, .pptx. E.g extensions101.pptx
Adobe Photoshop:
Adobe Photoshop will save your documents with the software file extension, .psd. E.g extensions101.psd
Adobe Indesign:
Adobe Indesign will save your documents with the software file extension, .indd. E.g extensions101.indd
Adobe Illustrator:
Adobe Illustrator will save your documents with the software file extension, .ai. E.g extensions101.ai
Adobe Acrobat:
