The Brief

Their old website wasn’t reflecting the quality of their delicious wares (we can vouch for how delicious they are. We of course had to taste their cheeses as part of our research!). Their previous eCommerce section was hardly functional and also linked out to a different url which is not good for SEO.

They wanted a bold, strong and confident eCommerce website design that’s easy to navigate their product range, in addition to working seamlessly on any device. They also wanted a blog news section that they could update themselves with news stories and notices of which markets they attend.

The Solution

We designed and built a custom eCommerce website using WooCommerce to provide a seamless online shopping experience. Our approach ensured that the site worked flawlessly across all devices, allowing customers to purchase cheeses with ease.

We focussed on: Data-driven improvements: We analyzed analytics from the old website to identify problem areas, leading to key refinements such as larger text sizes and greater emphasis on individual products.

A collaborative Design Approach: Establishing a typeface and color palette, we developed an initial homepage visual and sought early client feedback. We then created wireframes and additional Photoshop visuals to define a cohesive style guide.

An enhanced Checkout Experience: We completely redesigned the checkout process, ensuring a smooth, hassle-free transaction journey for customers.

The Outcome

The completed website features stunning cheese photography that highlights the craftsmanship and quality of their products. The colour scheme provides a subtly rustic yet playful backdrop, reinforcing the brand’s identity. The fully responsive design ensures the site looks fantastic on mobile, tablet, and desktop.

After launch, we trained the owner, Anita, on how to manage the WordPress CMS, update the blog, and use social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to further promote their business.

The result is a visually striking, user-friendly, and functional eCommerce platform that reflects the excellence of Somerset Cheese Co.’s products while making online purchasing easy for customers.
